Leo Henderson is running on a family values platform that emphasizes school choice, increased support of law enforcement, elections transparency, and bipartisanship across party lines to help people. ”Regardless of what affiliation you are, Republican, Democrat, independent, we have differences of opinion,” Henderson said. “We have to agree to disagree and respect that person’s opinion. We really have to stop the division….
We are all Americans.” Henderson works as a bus driver for the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada. He said if elected he will pursue what he calls “educational freedom” for families in east Las Vegas. “Education freedom is allowing parents to have a choice of where their children go to school,” Henderson said. “Our constituents are under-represented. Our main goal is to see that our education system is based on choice and gives families more freedom to send their children to better schools.” Henderson said he believes elections should go back to paper ballot counting for the purposes of transparency. He’s also in favor of increased resources for public safety to make east Las Vegas a safer place to live.
“I’m a very simple man,” Henderson said. “I come from a very conservative family. We have values that we want to keep and continue. Traditional family values. I also believe in transparency in everything you do in life and that we treat everybody with respect and listen to other people.”
About Leo Henderson
Leo has lived in Las Vegas since 2005. He was born and raised in Oxnard California. Leo’s parents immigrated to the United States for a better life and taught their children to work hard to achieve the American Dream.
Leo decided to run for Senate District 2 to represent Nevadans by putting children and families FIRST. He will work tirelessly to improve their daily lives on all fronts: Education, Economy, Community Safety, and Quality Healthcare.
Leo is running on a bipartisanship platform. Whatever your affiliation, Republican, Democrat, or Independent, we must work together to achieve and maintain a better life for our children and grandchildren.
PRO-EDUCATION
Leo will pursue “Educational Freedom”. He firmly believes that parents should be free to choose where their children go to school. No child should be subjected to a substandard education because of where they live. The money allocated to each child should follow that child no matter what school the parents select.
PRO-ECONOMIC PROSPERITY
Leo is against government mandates and he supports a policy of personal responsibility. The current leadership in Carson City continues to increase spending and taxes resulting in a higher cost of living with no end in sight. Leo will endeavor to move Nevada in the right direction by creating an environment that increases opportunities for all families to achieve the American Dream.
PRO-COMMUNITY SAFETY
Leo is pro-police. He knows that preserving Law and Order and maintaining safe communities require providing adequate resources to police to enable them to do their job.
PRO-QUALITY HEALTHCARE
Leo believes that healthcare and health insurance are personal choices best managed by the individual without government interference. People should be free to choose a healthcare plan that best suits their needs and beliefs.
IN SUMMARY
Leo works for the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada as a bus driver. He talks to thousands of citizens while doing his job. Leo will always work hard for our communities, for the State of Nevada, and for our youth to preserve and foster their right to achieve the American Dream.
Serving The Community
I have served my community by participating in two non-profit organizations. I was a Co-Founder of Latino En Accion, where our mission was to help children with education, business and entrepreneurial skills.
At Filipino American Scholarship Foundation & Outreach Services (FASFOS), I served as Vice-President of the board. There we provided students with scholarships through their first trimester in college.
Presently I am involved with a new non-profit organization called “HEALING HEART MOVEMENT“. We are here to uplift, empower and inspire those around us to live a more purposeful life.
Why Am I Running
I don't like the direction Nevada is heading, I feel the working people in my district needs are under-represented in general. One of my main goals is to see that our education system is based on choice and gives working for people's families more freedom to send their children to
better schools.
My call to action to run for office came from my desire to improve my local community and to ensure that the voices of my constituents are heard in the legislative process. We are no longer governed by the rule of law, but instead by the political will of those in power.
Much of our political class continues to put party, politics, and self-interest above the welfare of the people of Nevada.
